Who We Are

Your Hosts

Hello from the Cataldo family! We’re Michael Sr., Michael Jr., Laura, and Cathleen, and together, we built The Pocono Barndominium from the ground up. This project is a true labor of love, blending our construction expertise with a passion for hospitality. As locals to the Jim Thorpe area, we take great pride in sharing not only our home but also our favorite local recommendations with every guest who stays with us.

 

Michael Sr. and Jr., founders of Cataldo Builders Inc., set out to create something truly unique in the Poconos. Their vision was to craft a home that combines farmhouse charm with modern functionality, all while maintaining the highest standards of quality. The barndominium, originally a post-frame structure typically used for warehouses or garages, was transformed into a luxurious retreat ideal for large groups to gather and create lasting memories.

 

Laura and Cathleen, a mother-daughter team, manage The Pocono Barndominium and several other vacation rental properties throughout the Poconos through their boutique co-hosting and vacation rental management company, Discovered In Travel Vacation Homes. They focus on the little details that elevate each guest’s experience, ensuring that every stay is the best vacation rental experience they’ve ever had.

Nothing but great things to say about our stay at the Barndominium! An absolutely beautiful and unique home, everyone was in awe of the place! Our guests spent hours in the golf simulator room which was so much fun. Sometimes simulators can be gimmicky but this one worked flawlessly. The kitchen was fully stocked with any utensil or appliance you could need. The hosts were generous enough to stock us with fresh ground coffee which hit the spot in the morning outside on the porch. All the bedrooms were clean, decorated so nicely and the beds were super comfortable. The hosts were extremely communicative throughout the whole process and had so many recommendations. 10/10 experience, we hope to visit again one day!

We had an amazing stay here. Everything was above and beyond what we expected. The house was stunning and very clean. Everything was well maintained. We had plans to go into Jim Thorpe but didn’t even go because we were having such a great time at the house. Beds were comfortable and rooms were spacious. Cathleen was so helpful. Cathleen and Laura were both super responsive and answered every question I had along the way. Some of the best Airbnb hosts I’ve had. I would definitely recommend this Airbnb to friends & family. If I’m ever in the Jim Thorpe area again, I will be reaching out! Just one note: I wish the living room had some more seating. We had 10 people and the living room couch and chairs comfortably seated 5. We had an amazing stay at Poconos Pandemonium Mountain House! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The house was spotless, spacious, and incredibly comfortable—perfect for our whole family. The amenities truly set it apart. The hot tub, golf simulator, and karaoke were absolute highlights and kept everyone entertained all weekend. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed and had plenty of seating for family meals and game nights together. The location was also ideal—super convenient to the slopes, which made it easy for our snowboarders to come and go. The hosts were fantastic—helpful, responsive, and full of great recommendations. The local pizza delivery and caterer they suggested were both perfect and absolutely delicious. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would absolutely come back again!

We stayed here for my brother’s bachelor and my sister-in-law’s bachelorette party, and it was perfect for our group of 11 adults. The house is in a great location- close to everything but tucked back far enough to feel private. We loved the fire pit, and the covered-porch hot tub was amazing, especially since it rained one night. The golf simulator was a huge hit with my brother and his friends! I wish I could give the Pocono Barndominium 10 stars! Cathleen and Laura were terrific hosts- quick to reply with any questions, and extremely friendly and helpful. The barndominium had everything you could want and more. A golf simulator, a theater room, a fire pit, and a wood burning stove in the living room! The decoration and attention to detail was superb! A s’mores kit for the fire pit by a welcome card, an impeccably stocked coffee station, popcorn and snacks in the movie room, hair ties and make up wipes a in the bathrooms, and a doggy area set up with bowls and blankets. They literally thought of everything! The best part for me, as a wheelchair user, was how ADA friendly it was. Going to airbnbs can be very stressful…this was the first time I felt at ease knowing I would have no problem entering the home, and have access to EVERY part of it. This was my family’s first time at the barndominium, but after our first visit- we plan on making it a yearly tradition!

One of our golf days was rained out and it didn't dampen our spirits at all because we fired up the simulator and had a blast. The hot tub post-golf was great and we used the Blackstone grill twice for dinners at the house. The house had 3 great areas where we could all hang out together which after all was the main goal of our trip. Cathleen and Laura were tremendous hosts and were super responsive whenever I had questions. We have already decided we will be back next time we choose the Poconos as our annual trip destination.

From the amenities, to the s’mores kit, to the seating options, to the olive oil spray, it’s clear Cathleen put a ton of thought into making a stay here as enjoyable and convenient as possible. The barndominium had something for everyone—golf simulator, theater room, hot tub, fire pit, tvs, and lots of outdoor and indoor seating for games, reading, etc. There was never a dull moment! This Airbnb is a 10/10. We had a large group staying at the house and we were never short of things to do. There are plenty of games and activities at this house. There is lots of space where we did not feel like we were on top of each other. The heated floors were a big hit with our group and so was the golf simulator. The host was phenomenal. She was very responsive, polite, and took the time to make sure we were fully taken care of before, during, and after our stay. We visited The Barndominium Easter weekend, 2025 and had the absolute best time! Our party was comprised of 3 families, 10 people in total, with each family having a daughter (aged 16,14 & 13) who recently had a birthday, so we made The Barndominium our destination for their annual birthday getaway. The Barndominium left nothing to be desired. It’s beautifully appointed, thoughtfully and intentionally designed with family fun in mind! The home is perfectly equipped to accommodate large families. Our weekend was filled with hours around the fire pit making s’mores, relaxing in the theater room and the hot tub, cooking large meals, playing games and softball! We look forward to visiting The Barndominium again!

This was maybe the best run AirBNB that I've ever stayed in. Each of the guests with me continually called out the attention to detail of every part of the stay. The amenities are all super new and nice. Everything there, the fireplace, the hot tub, the golf sim, has super easy guides right by them. There was free cookie supplies in the kitchen chen and hair ties in the bathroom. Cathleen was super responsive and offered to help us book additional activities multiple times leading up to the stay. She clearly has a great design eye, and it really shows in this AirBnB. The nearby area is a little rural, but if you are looking to a place to hole up, cook, and hang out than I cannot recommend the barndominium more.

The Barndominium was wonderful. A handful friends all got together for the first time in a few years and enjoyed some much-needed R&R. Our group used everything, from the spacious kitchen as a gathering place, to the fire pit outside, family movie night in the Home theater, and at least three rounds of golf on the simulator. My only small suggestion would be to have a foam topper on one or two of the beds, as they were all on the firm to medium side. Overall, a wonderful weekend retreat, and highly recommend

We rented this beautiful luxury Airbnb for a family birthday celebration and every single one of us were blown away by the cleanliness and unique amenities. This house has everything you need from the living room to the movie theater to the hot tub, to the golf simulator! Our hosts, Cathleen & Laura were great, they went above and beyond for us. Our group was so big so it was hard to travel BUT the hosts arranged a private car service for us to explore historic Jim Thorpe (which is basically right down the road) & later to the mountains, what a lifesaver. Honestly, this house being pet friendly was a plus since we did not have to get a dog sitter & our pup could come with us. They also connected us with their private chef that cooked for our large group. It was amazing to relax & not have to cook for everyone. The perfect spot with everything you need in the best location in the Poconos.
